Attorney James L. Gwinup
James L. Gwinup graduated Magna Cum Laude in Business Administration from Pacific Union College. He then attended King Hall (UC Davis School of Law) and was admitted to the State Bar of California. Since that time, James has been practicing exclusively family law in El Dorado, Sacramento, Amador and Placer Counties.
James is a Certified Family Law Specialist and serves as a Temporary Judge in El Dorado County for family law matters.
James provides litigation, mediation and collaborative law services to clients. His practice consists of all areas of family law, including divorce, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, property division, retirement plans and domestic violence restraining orders. He is a member of the El Dorado County Bar Association and the Sacramento Collaborative Practice Group. James likes to spend his free time in various outdoor sports and activities with his children.

Shaun Brooks
Shaun P. Brooks attended Sacramento State where he graduated cum laude with a degree in history. After going through a custody trial of his own, he decided to attend McGeorge School of Law where he graduated with distinction from the full-time program while working as a single father. Shaun also served as president of the Family Law Student Association at McGeorge for two years.
During law school, Shaun worked as a student associate at a Sacramento family law firm in addition to interning at Cudney Gwinup, LLP. After graduating and passing the bar, Shaun was hired by the Gwinup Law APC as an associate attorney.
Shaun exclusively practices family law and has experience in custody, support, divorce, domestic violence, and property division. He is passionate about all areas that family law encompasses and provides his clients with zealous advocacy. In his free time, Shaun enjoys spending time with his daughter, lifting weights, and being outdoors.

John R. Hughes
John R. Hughes has been a Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS) since 2004. John's practice has been based in El Dorado County since 1996, and he also handles matters in Sacramento, Amador and Placer Counties. John provides litigation, mediation and collaborative law services to clients. His practice consists of all areas of family law, including divorce, property division, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, and domestic violence restraining orders. As a retired CPA, John is able to apply his financial skills and experience to assist his clients.John is a member and former officer of the El Dorado County Bar Association, John completed his Juris Doctor (J.D.) at U.C. Davis School of Law (King Hall), and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1996. John graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Pacific Union College in 1983. John obtained a California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in 1986.
John is an avid fisherman, SCUBA diver, motorcycle rider, and an enthusiastic (i.e. high handicap) golfer.
